PCB Loading
December 12th, 2022
In Short
As Printed Circuit Board (PCB) technology continues to advance, circuit boards are becoming thinner and more complex. PCB assembly and testing processes usually need manual loading and unloading, which is inefficient, costly, and prone to damage the boards due to human error. Consequently, there is a growing demand for flexible PCB loading automation solutions.
Flexiv's PCB loading solution consists of the adaptive robot Rizon, a camera calibration module and customized end tools. According to specific needs, it can also be paired with an AGV/AMR platform for mobile operation. With advanced force control capacities and stable computer vision, the solution can achieve flexible loading and unloading of PCBs, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.
Hand-eye cooperation ensures high positioning accuracy
The solution uses visual calibration modules for primary positioning and force-controlled strategies like 'edge searching' to place boards. The final positioning accuracy can reach 0.01mm.
Adapt to various errors for consistent operation
With industrial-grade force control capabilities, the solution can adapt to positional errors caused by inconsistent material sizes, placement angles, and even mobile platforms, effectively preventing scratches and achieving a success rate of 99.99%.
Accommodate multiple devices and enhance equipment utilization
When used in conjunction with AMR platforms, the solution can handle loading and unloading tasks of multiple machines, thus improving equipment reuse and space utilization, and reducing overall costs.
