Adaptive robots

users can harness exceptional performance and durability to fulfill their robotic surface finishing and material removal requirements.

Flexiv robots utilize responsive torque control across all joints to efficiently dampen vibrations, establishing themselves as the ideal choice for demanding grinding environments. Their lasting reliability, attributed to torque-controlled joints, along with their outstanding surface finishing quality, has been verified in numerous applications within the automotive sector. In grinding, stability is essential, as the forces involved are substantial. In contrast, deburring requires efficient material removal at high speeds, which can sometimes lead to overcutting. Flexiv robots use an overcutting protection feature that allows them to leverage powerful and efficient deburring spindles without the risk of overcutting. This results in a rapid deburring solution with finely finished results, making Flexiv adaptive robots an ideal choice for post-processing of casted parts.

Flexile configuration

Flexiv’s robots can perform both tool to part and part to tool polishing

Use multiple sanders in a tool to part configuration to eliminate tool changes and improve overall efficiency

Flexiv Rizon adaptive robots excel in achieving high-precision force control for both tool-to-part and part-to-tool operations. The part-to-tool capability proves particularly advantageous when utilizing standalone sanders or grinders. Operators can effortlessly specify desired force values and directions in the coordinate system of the sander/grinder, alleviating concerns about force application at the robot’s flange. Standalone sanders/grinders find widespread use in sanding and grinding applications due to their superior power and efficiency compared to those integrated onto a robot’s flange. The integration allows for the consolidation of multiple sanding or grinding processes, eliminating the need for the robot to switch mounting tools in between tasks. This streamlines operations and enhances overall efficiency.

Multi-robots polishing

Multi-robot capable

Flexiv’s robots can coordinate with each other to reduce overall cycle time

Featuring seven joints and integrated force control, Flexiv’s robots excel in confined spaces, offering exceptional dexterity

Flexiv robots do not require additional compliance devices to perform force control in polishing tasks. Polishers and sanders can be directly attached to the robot’s flange. This approach reduces the overall weight and size of the robot and tooling solution, resulting in a highly compact setup. Consequently, this enables us to accommodate more robots in a limited space, enhancing polishing efficiency and cycle time. Additionally, Flexiv robots feature 7 joints. This extra degree of freedom allows the robot to navigate around obstacles and other robots, improving its performance in confined spaces.

Improves and learns

Thrives in the most challenging polishing tasks with prior training

Fine force control

Attains precise force control using high-fidelity force sensors with a remarkable 0.03N resolution

Flexiv’s robots can enhance their force control accuracy through training and learning. When the robot is programmed to execute a repetitive trajectory, it automatically gathers force and motion data, fine-tuning its control parameters to minimize errors. This functionality enables the robot to excel in applications demanding delicate precision to mitigate any potential risk of surface scratches. As demonstrated in the video from one of Flexiv's customers, the robot operated at high speed while exerting a gentle force on the glass surfaces of cell phones. This capability facilitates the swift and secure removal of residual glue
